Being a Mom

I can't believe that it has already been 5 months ago that a little hairless wonder changed my life forever. Tonight at 1:39 am marks my 5 month anniversary of being a mom. At the age of 24 when so many of my peers are out partying, and enjoying their youth, my life has called me in a different direction. I do not envy my peers, and I don't wish them to envy me. We each have our own paths that we must walk, and motherhood is where mine has led me thus far. Yes there are days when I am utterly exhausted and long for the simple times, but then he smiles at me, a mouth full of gums, a dimple on his left cheek, and a little chuckle that melts your heart and I realize I am the lucky one! I'm honored and privileged that the Lord would trust me to care for and raise this little man, to build him into a strong and courageous fighter for Christ. What I've learned about motherhood thus far is that it's a selfless job, it's a dirty job (spit-up is my daily perfume and accessory) and it's a job that doesn't always get the appreciation it deserves but we mothers understand the truth - it isn't glamorous but it's very rewarding!
